Opportunities for collaboration
We’d love to collaborate with others working to make youth online experiences safer. We’re focused on three areas — if you’re working on similar problems, get in touch.
- Developing and improving measurement methods. We develop and validate ways to measure online experiences — especially methods that produce per-application data in standardized, comparable ways. Our pilot measurement instrument is free for anyone to use, and we’re actively refining these approaches. If you’re building or validating measures, let’s share learnings.
- Collecting data on online experiences. We want to enable large-scale population surveys to produce ongoing, standardized measures of online experiences. In addition to compiling existing research, members of our team at USC and Stanford conducted a 2025 survey of US adolescents aged 13-17 about their experiences of online harms across apps. The study is included in this index, and we are planning a follow-up study. If you already run population surveys, we’d like to standardize questions across surveys and share learnings.
- Putting the data to use. Data only helps if it reaches the people who can act on it — parents and youth, platforms, policymakers and regulators, and civil-society groups. Our index of studies and insights summaries exist to make these data more accessible. If you have questions about the data, ideas for analyses, or analyses of your own, we’d like to hear from you.
